Otto HR · Leave Management
Leave tracking isn't spreadsheet work. It's a system's job.
Otto HR runs annual leave the way the law expects: entitlements accrue by seniority on their own, requests move through the approval chain you define, employees see their own balance in the portal, and every approved day becomes a record payroll can read. You make the decisions, the system keeps the count.

Why a system?
Spreadsheets forget. Systems don't.
01
Statutory accrual, on its own
Turkish companies get a built-in annual leave type with the Labor Law Art. 53 tiers — 14, 20 and 26 days by seniority — plus the 20-day floor for employees aged 18 or younger and 50 or older. When someone crosses a tier threshold, the raise is applied the day it happens. Companies elsewhere start from an editable baseline.
02
One flow from request to approval
Employees request, and the request moves through the chain you define — manager then HR, HR only, or custom ordered steps. Overlapping dates are flagged with a warning, and a live "on leave now" list keeps the team picture current. A person signs off at every step.
03
Visible balances, payroll-ready records
Employees see their remaining days, pending requests, carried-over days and next accrual date in the portal — the "how many days do I have left?" emails stop. Approved leave is stored once, and the pay period reads leave days from that same record. No second data entry.
What's in the product
The four pillars of leave tracking
Seniority-based, automatic
Seniority tiers, the age floor and the first-year rule are defined in the product: entitlement vests on the employment anniversary per Art. 54, and carried-over days move at the January rollover (Turkish Labor Law Art. 53–54). Balances are read from stored records — nobody recomputes on page load, and you never do.

The chain you define
Configure per leave type: auto-approve, HR only, manager → HR, or custom ordered steps. Everyone sees where a request stands, and HR can record leave on an employee's behalf when needed. You can even approve a request through Otto in chat — Otto prepares the action, and the confirmation card leaves the final word with you.

Balances on the employee's screen
Remaining, pending and carried-over days plus the next accrual date, in each employee's own portal. The request form counts days with your company's working days and holiday calendar — the number on the form is the number that gets approved.
Company overview
This monthLeave records flow into the pay period
Every approved leave sits as one record with its dates and day count. When the pay period is prepared, leave days come from those records. No re-entry, no copy-paste, no version confusion.

Frequently asked questions
Leave-tracking software keeps employees' annual-leave entitlements, requests, approvals and remaining balances in one place. Good leave-tracking software computes accrual by the law on its own, routes requests through an approval chain, shows each employee their balance, and stores approved leave as records payroll can read. Otto HR does all four.
Migration is a single declaration: as you add employees — in the form, by bulk CSV, or through Otto — you enter each person's remaining annual-leave days as of that day. The system takes that number as the starting point and keeps the count from then on. You don't need to carry over years of spreadsheets, and every later correction is kept on record. Our annual-leave guide covers the details (/yillik-izin).
For Turkish companies, the built-in annual leave type ships with the Labor Law Art. 53 tiers (14, 20, 26 days) and the 20-day floor for employees aged 18 or younger and 50 or older. Entitlement vests on the employment anniversary per Art. 54, and public holidays falling inside a leave don't count against it per Art. 56. To see your own entitlement, try our free annual-leave calculator (/yillik-izin/hesaplama).
In the employee portal. Each employee sees their remaining balance, pending requests, carried-over days and next accrual date on their own screen. They open new requests there and follow the approval steps as they happen. The company holiday calendar lives in the portal too, so the request form counts days by the same rules HR uses.
Yes. Every approved leave is stored once with its dates and day count, and leave days are read from those records when the pay period is prepared. No entering leave in one spreadsheet and payroll in another — data goes in once, and both surfaces show the same truth.
